Pakistan legend Wasim Akram said that though India remains favourite for the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday, yet anything can happen in cricket.
“I hope so [Pakistan’s bowling comes to the fore on Sunday too], and look, it’s an India-Pakistan game. India definitely is the favourite on Sunday.” said Akram, as per PTI.
“But you guys have seen, cricket lovers have seen, I have seen, anything can happen in this format. One good innings, one spell can change the course of the game.”
Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in a decisive match by 11 runs in the Super Four stage to qualify for the final. Akram said that Pakistan should be confident from this win and play well in the final.
“Pakistan team should take this confidence, this momentum to Sunday and back themselves and play sensible cricket”, said Akram.
Indian opener Abhishek Sharma is in destructive form in the tournament, scoring 309 runs from six matches at an average of 51.50, including three fifties. Akram believes if Pakistan can give early blows to India then Pakistan will be in an advantageous position.
“Ideally, a couple of early wickets, especially Abhishek and Gill, can definitely put India on the back foot. It should be a close game, and I hope in the end, the best team will win,” Akram concluded.
