Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar took time out to visit the newly inaugurated Veer Savarkar Sports Complex on Saturday, during his recent trip to Ahmedabad, where he is set to take part in the Filmfare Awards. A firm advocate of fitness and sports himself, the actor interacted warmly with athletes, officials, and fans present at the venue. For fun, he even took part in a quick volleyball rally, which drew loud cheers from the crowd.

The Veer Savarkar Sports Complex has been built at a cost of ₹825 crore and was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Named after the freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, the complex is a significant landmark in India’s sporting landscape and represents a major boost to Ahmedabad’s ambition of becoming the nation’s sports capital.

The complex includes an Outdoor Sports Zone and a Fit India Zone. Spanning over 21 acres and covering nearly 1,19,000 psquare metres, it features world-class amenities — including an Olympic-standard aquatics stadium, a 5,200-seater indoor arena, and a Centre for Sports Excellence, which houses top-tier training facilities for various sports such as wrestling, shooting, basketball, kabaddi, table tennis, badminton, and more.
