The video surfaced on July 29 — a day celebrated as Mohun Bagan Day — making it a perfect gift for Green-and-Maroon supporters. Fans flooded social media with excitement after witnessing their star player training with a Real Madrid regular.
Asencio was a key figure for Real Madrid last season. So far, he has made 46 appearances for the club and was recently in action at the FIFA Club World Cup under their new manager Xabi Alonso. With Real Madrid’s season set to begin on August 20, Asencio appears to be ramping up his preparations.
Meanwhile, Rodrigues was a rock in Mohun Bagan’s defence last season, playing a pivotal role in the team’s historic double — winning both the Indian Super League (ISL) Shield and the ISL Cup. As the team aims to defend those titles, expectations are high on Rodrigues to continue leading from the back.
According to sources, all foreign players, including Rodrigues, are expected to arrive in Kolkata by August 2 or 3. Head coach Jose Molina is scheduled to reach the City of Joy on August 1. The entire foreign contingent is likely to be in action for Mohun Bagan’s clash against Diamond Harbour on August 9 in the ongoing Durand Cup.
