In a surprising turn of events, ahead of the Super Cup 2025, FC Goa and Albanian forward Armando Sadiku have mutually agreed to part ways. Sadiku had joined the Gaurs from Mohun Bagan SG during the summer transfer window and quickly became a fan favourite with his impressive performances.

The 33-year-old striker made an instant impact during the pre-season, emerging as the top scorer in the 4th Bandodkar Trophy with six goals, setting high expectations for the ISL season ahead.

Sadiku carried his blistering form into the ISL, netting eight goals in his first seven appearances. However, his momentum began to fade midway through the season, leading to a dip in form. As a result, he lost his starting spot to Spanish forward Iker Guarrotxena, who became the preferred choice up front.

Despite the setback, Sadiku proved his worth in the playoffs, scoring a crucial goal against Bengaluru FC in a must-win clash. Unfortunately for Goa, it was Sunil Chhetri’s sensational header that ultimately denied them a place in the final.

Sadiku’s stats this season remain impressive — 10 goals and 2 assists in the ISL. That makes his departure even more surprising, especially considering the impact he made during his short stint.

Before his move to Goa, Sadiku was a key figure for Mohun Bagan SG, scoring 11 goals and providing 1 assist. However, the arrival of marquee signings like Greg Stewart and Jamie Maclaren pushed him out of the squad late in the transfer window, forcing his move to Goa. Sadly, his time in Goa also ends without a fitting farewell. Without Sadiku FC Goa most likely to participate in the upcoming Super Cup with their remaining 5 foreigners.

It now remains to be seen whether Sadiku will explore opportunities in other leagues abroad or continue his Indian football journey by signing with another ISL club.
