India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has hailed Ravichandran Ashwin as one of the country’s finest match-winners. Ashwin’s exceptional performance in the first Test against West Indies saw him claim 12 wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings and a seven-wicket haul in the second innings.
Notably, Ashwin also crossed the 700-wicket milestone in international cricket during the same match, placing him right behind the legendary leg spinner Anil Kumble. “As a team we realise how valuable R Ashwin is. In my opinion he is one of the greatest match-winners for India. There have been very few match-winners like him. The number of matches he has helped us win what can I say,” said Mhambrey.
India, after securing a 1-0 lead in the series, is set to face West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain on July 20 for the second Test.
