Pakistan opening batter Sahibzada Farhan is hoping to face India for a third time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, in the final scheduled for Sunday, 28 September.

The arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, have already clashed twice—first in the Group A match on 14 September and then in the Super Four match on 21 September. Both games were played in Dubai, and on both occasions, India outclassed their rivals. Despite being beaten twice, Farhan is excited by the prospect of a potential third encounter.

“We’d love to be able to meet India again in the final,” Farhan told reporters.

For Pakistan to reach the final, they will need to win both of their remaining games against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Their second match, against Sri Lanka, is a do-or-die fixture. Having already lost their Super Four game, the upcoming match is also a must-win for Sri Lanka.

Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium will host the clash between the former Asia Cup winners. Farhan believes that the pitches in Abu Dhabi are good for batting, with the ball coming nicely onto the bat, and says his team is well prepared for the match against the islanders.

“The wickets in Abu Dhabi are true and the ball comes onto the bat, and we’ll play to win. We’re very well prepared,” he said.

Compared to their first game against India, where the Men in Blue won comfortably, the second encounter went down to the penultimate over. Farhan and his team have taken a lot of confidence from that match.

“The boys are confident ahead of the Sri Lanka game because that wasn’t a one-sided match; it was one we took right to the end,” he added.
