India defeated Oman by 21 runs in the Asia Cup 2025 to stay unbeaten in Group A and secure their place in the Super Four. The match was tense, but after the final ball, fans witnessed a heartwarming gesture from Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. He was seen spending time with the Oman players, sharing his experiences and giving them valuable tips for the future.
Speaking about the interaction, Oman skipper Jatinder Singh said during the post-match presentation: “Surya spoke about the game and praised us which means a lot. Our boys had questions on how to play in different phases of a T20 game. It was really nice to have a chat with him.”
The moment reflected the respect between both teams, as players later posed for pictures together, showcasing the friendly spirit of the game.
On the field, India won the toss and opted to bat first. After Shubman Gill was dismissed cheaply, Sanju Samson (56) and Abhishek Sharma (38) built a steady partnership. With crucial contributions from Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, and Harshit Rana, India posted 188/8 in 20 overs.
Oman began their chase positively. Openers Jatinder Singh and Aamir Kaleem stitched a 56-run stand before Hammad Mirza joined Kaleem for a crucial 93-run partnership that kept Oman in contention. However, India’s bowlers struck at the right moments, restricting Oman to 167/4 in 20 overs to seal a 21-run victory.
India will now face arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super Four on Sunday, September 21, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
