India U-19 defeated Australia U-19 by 167 runs in the third and final ODI to complete a 3-0 clean sweep of the Youth ODI series. Vedant Trivedi and Khilan Patel were the heroes for India.

Ayush Mhatre won the toss and opted to bat first. The team got off to a poor start, losing both their star players — Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had made headlines during the IPL — early in the innings. However, Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi steadied the ship with a 69-run partnership that brought much-needed stability. After Vihaan’s dismissal, Rahul Kumar joined Vedant, and together they put on a crucial 99-run stand that laid the foundation for a competitive total.

Vedant, who had scored a fifty in the first match, was outstanding once again, making 86 off 92 balls, including eight fours, at a strike rate of 93.48. Rahul provided solid support, scoring 62 runs, which included six boundaries. For Australia U-19, Kasey Barton and Will Byrom picked up three wickets each.

Chasing 281, the Australia U-19 side never looked comfortable at the crease. Indian bowlers maintained constant pressure throughout the innings. Udhav Mohan was lethal with the new ball, removing three top-order batters, while Khilan Patel shone with figures of 4 for 26, helping to bundle out the Australian side for just 113. They lost their last five wickets for only 15 runs.

With the three-match 50-over series now concluded, both teams will take part in two Youth Test matches, scheduled to begin on 20 September in Brisbane.
