In the backdrop of Australia’s series-clinching win over India in Adelaide, Mitchell Marsh, their captain, praised the performance of the young side.
In the post-match presentation ceremony, he said:
“I’m going to start calling him Chaos Owen, I think. It was awesome, awesome batting. I think Cooper’s 21. The future is bright for Australia. I’ve got eyes for him.”
Mitchell Owen and Cooper Connolly stitched a partnership of 59 runs off just 39 balls that made the target seem easy. Owen scored 36 off 23 balls, including two fours and three sixes and Connolly remained unbeaten on 61 off 53 balls, including five fours and a six to take his team home.
Marsh also commended his bowlers for not letting India post a huge total.
“It’s been awesome. I said to the boys in Perth that it is pretty rare to play in front of big crowds in ODI cricket. So, yes, it’s been an awesome turnout for both games. Josh Hazlewood took the best none-for I’ve ever seen. He was unbelievable. I thought the whole bowling unit kept trying to take wickets. We were outstanding.” he added.
The last match of the series will be played on Saturday, October 25, at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
