
Australian batter Tim David has overtaken India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav to become the fastest player to score 1,000 T20I runs. David achieved this milestone during the third T20I against India in Hobart on Sunday, October 2.
He reached the 1,000-run mark in just 569 balls. He went past Suryakumar’s record of 573 balls. Glenn Maxwell (604) and New Zealand’s Finn Allen (611) are next on the list.
India won the toss and opted to bowl first in Hobart, andDavid scored 74 runs. He reached his half-century in only 23 balls. His innings included four boundaries and five maximums at a strike-rate of 194.73. One of his hits, 129m off Axar Patel, even landed on the roof of the Bellerive Oval. Despite wickets falling around him, David held the innings together.
David has been consistent throughout the year, scoring 363 runs in 2025 at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 201.66. Earlier, he smashed his maiden T20I hundred in just37 balls, scoring 102* against West Indies. He also holds the record for the most sixes by an Australian in a calendar year, with 35.
In the most sixes list, Travis Heads stands just behind David with 33 sixes in 2024. Aaron Finch has 31 sixes in 2018 and Mitch Marsh has 29 sixes in 2025.
After first inning Australia stands at 186 runs at the loss of six wickets. Arshdeep Singh was the key bowler for India with three wickets, Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets and Shivam Dube also managed to get one wicket.
