
Australia’s dashing opener Travis Head became the fastest Australian to complete 3000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket. He achieved the feat when he scored 29 off 25 balls during the third match of the ongoing three-match series against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Head began the match with 2978 runs from 78 matches, needing just 22 runs to reach the landmark. He brought up the milestone driving a delivery from Prasidh Krishna for a single through mid-off in the seventh over.
The left-hander reached the 3000 run mark in 76 innings, surpassing former Australian captain Steve Smith who achieved the feat in 79 innings.

Head became the second fastest Australian to reach 3000 runs, getting to the milestone in 2839 balls. Glenn Maxwell leads the chart who attained the landmark in 2440 balls.
The 31-year-old left hander also became the fourth fastest player in the world to reach the 3000 run milepost. He is behind Maxwell, England’s Jos Buttler (2533) and Jason Roy (2820).
