Former fast bowler Varun Aaron has requested for the inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in India’s playing XI after the team’s bowling once again struggled under pressure in the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide.

Speaking to the broadcasters after India’s two-wicket loss, Aaron said India missed a wicket-taking spinner and they must rethink their plan. “Kuldeep Yadav should have come in from game one. You will have to sacrifice a batter. Obviously, you can’t play two fast bowlers in Australia. That’s that. That would be a no-go. But Kuldeep is somebody who will get you wickets. He will make up for those runs which you didn’t score,” said Aaron, highlighting the importance of adding a spinner at the cost of a batter.

The former pacer explained that India’s bowlers were waiting for mistakes instead of trying to create chances. He also highlighted the reason to add another bowler instead of a batter. “And also, the moment you have one batter short, I feel batters in general would take more responsibility on themselves and try to dig deeper because they know they dont have that cushion at the back,” he added.

Aaron believes Kuldeep’s ability to strike in the middle overs is exactly what India lacked in Adelaide. The third and final ODI is on October  25 in Sydney.
