By Boria Majumdar On Dhyan Chand’s birthday, this is a special tribute to the legend who united India in a manner that few have ever been able to do. His name and aura spread far beyond Indian shores and, despite coming from the humblest of backgrounds, he embodied the Indian dream—uniting people in their aspirations and pursuits. Through hard work and discipline, he made Indian sport the toast of the world and, in doing so, gave every Indian a sense of self-respect and pride. His multiple Olympic gold medals spoke one language: we can. India can. Here are four stories…
Boria Majumdar It’s now more than two decades since Irfan Pathan announced himself as an all-rounder of genuine promise. Though he couldn’t quite live up to the early potential, he still played a huge part in India winning the first T20 World Cup in 2007. Now a commentator with coaching ambitions, Irfan spoke exclusively to Boria Majumdar, RevSportz editor-in-chief, about the England tour, Mohammed Siraj’s efforts, Shubman Gill’s leadership, and the vexing Bumrah-workload issue. Boria: How do you look back to that Mohammed Siraj moment? Irfan: Thank you very much for having me, Boria Bhai. You asked the perfect question…
Irfan Pathan, not one to hold back, has supported Shubman Gill as India’s all-format captain going forward. In a podcast which addressed a host of issues, Pathan made some interesting observations regarding Gill. Answering a question how he evaluated Gill’s performance as a batter in England, Irfan said, “Very impressed. If you see the way he went about his job, you will know how good he was. Shubman Gill the batter actually helped Shubman Gill the captain. As a batter, you just have one job – that is to score runs. But, as a captain, you have two different jobs.…
As we celebrate National Sports Day, we at RevSportz kept thinking to ourselves how best to mark the occasion. We have always stood for multi-sport coverage and we wanted to showcase that in our work. We wanted to celebrate sports in totality and make it special. That’s what we have for you today, and over the weekend. In hockey, India start their Asia Cup campaign in Rajgir today. After a troubled few months on the pitch, we need the national team to get back on track. At 10am, we have Hardik Singh and Vivek Sagar Prasad speaking to Gargi Raut…
In 2022, Indian football was in the doldrums. The AIFF was suspended by FIFA, and the sport faced an uncertain future. Three years down the line, the situation is much the same. The scenario is bleak and the alarm bells are ringing. There has been no progress, and the sport has gone south. Whatever good work was once done is being lost with the negativity around. For a sport which has mass support and is passionately followed by millions in the country, this is as bad as it can get. Court hearing after court haring has happened, and the bottom…
Boria Majumdar The moment the address is mentioned, the one word that comes to mind is reverence. For this is where the greatest batsman of all time Sir Donald Bradman lived for a good 14 years between 1911-1924. Located in scenic Bowral, this house for some years was maintained by Andrew Leeming and was one of the most visited residence museums in the world. In fact, 52 Shepherd Street is one of the many Bradman things to do in Bowral. The journey actually starts a mile before you enter the actual city. On the left hand side of the highway,…
In a serous development, FIFA has literally put the AIFF on notice. In a letter addressed to President Kalyan Chaubey dated 25 August 2025, FIFA has expressed acute disappointment with what is going on in Indian football. It has outlined a series of steps the AIFF need to take urgently to avoid possible suspension. The deadline set is October 30, 2025. In what could be seen as a defining paragraph, FIFA has written, “In this context, we kindly remind the AIFF of its obligation to manage its affairs independently and without any undue third-party influence, including government bodies, as enshrined…
Boria Majumdar If you ever feel down, Mohammed Siraj is the perfect therapy. Yes, he is a very good bowler and a match-winner. But more importantly, he is a fine human being who has his heart in the right place. There are some things that are recorded, and some that are not. In the 30-minute chat that we had, which was aired yesterday, Siraj spoke his heart out. But let me say that the parts which weren’t recorded were as touching. At the very start of the interview, I asked him how things were and how his restaurant was coming…
One final meeting between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) is to happen tomorrow at 4.30 pm and sources say it is expected to go on long. It is the meeting that will decide the final blue print of the solution to be presented by the AIFF-FSDL combine before the Supreme Court on 28 August at 1 pm. Four definite things are being looked at. The first is transparency. How the deal will be structured going ahead and what are the various aspects of the agreement. This is to ensure no one points fingers…
It is not one or the other. It is one with the other. FSDL and AIFF are working on a possible long-term solution for Indian football with an aim to also start the delayed season of the ISL as soon as possible. While the solution hasn’t been ironed out as yet, the intent is there and things are expected to be firmed up over the next two days. Sources in the know confirm to Revsportz, “Nothing has moved since yesterday but today and tomorrow are key days in working things out. Multiple stakeholders and key institutions need to be consulted…
