Former India pacer Varun Aaron has been named the new bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the franchise announced via social media on Monday, July 14. The 35-year-old takes over the role from former New Zealand cricketer James Franklin. Franklin had served as SRH’s bowling coach for the past two IPL seasons (2024 and 2025) after South African legend Dale Steyn stepped down ahead of the 2024 campaign due to personal reasons. Franklin is now expected to be reassigned to a different position within the franchise. SRH The Sunrisers made the announcement with a post on X (formerly Twitter) that read:…
ENG vs IND: Stuart Broad Questions ICC’s Consistency Over Siraj Sanction, Points to Gill Incident
Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has criticised the ICC’s disciplinary action against India’s Mohammed Siraj, questioning why the pacer was fined for an aggressive celebration while skipper Shubman Gill appeared to escape sanction despite swearing on live television. On Monday morning, the ICC penalised Siraj with a 15% deduction from his match fee for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to actions or gestures that could provoke a reaction from a dismissed batter. The incident occurred on Day 4 when Siraj dismissed Ben Duckett and celebrated in animated fashion, prompting the on-field umpire to…
India pacer Mohammed Siraj has been fined 15% of his match fee and received one demerit point for an aggressive send-off to Ben Duckett on Day 4 of the third Test at Lord’s. The offence was classified as a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct. The incident took place during the sixth over of England’s second innings on Sunday. Siraj delivered a 140 kph back-of-a-length ball outside off stump, which Duckett tried to pull. However, the shot lacked timing and direction, resulting in a simple catch to Jasprit Bumrah at mid-on. Clearly fired up, Siraj charged toward…
England have received a timely boost ahead of Day 5 of the Lord’s Test, with batting coach Marcus Trescothick confirming that Shoaib Bashir is fit and available to bowl. The 21-year-old off-spinner had injured his hand during Day 3 while attempting a challenging catch that could have dismissed Ravindra Jadeja at a pivotal moment in India’s first innings. Bashir left the field for treatment, with Joe Root finishing the over, and did not return to bowl for the rest of the day. However, he showed signs of recovery by coming out to bat on Day 4, facing nine balls and…
India women’s head coach Amol Muzumdar has confirmed that opener Shafali Verma remains firmly in contention for a place in the squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup at home, despite being left out of the side for the England series. Shafali was dropped after India’s early exit from the T20 World Cup in October but earned a recall for the recent T20I series against England, following a string of impressive domestic performances. The 20-year-old scored 176 runs in the five-match series at an average of 35.2 and an impressive strike rate of 158.5. Her standout performance came in the…
Devon Conway, Mitch Hay, Jimmy Neesham, and Tim Robinson have been added to New Zealand’s T20I squad in Harare ahead of the upcoming Tri-Series against Zimbabwe and South Africa, New Zealand Cricket confirmed on Sunday. The additions come as several Kiwi players remain tied up with franchise duties in the USA. Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra are all part of the Major League Cricket (MLC) final, where the Washington Freedom take on MI New York on Monday. Conway comes in as a direct replacement for the injured Finn Allen, who was ruled out of the entire…
A day after scripting history by leading Italy to their maiden ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualification, skipper Joe Burns has acknowledged the significance of the moment — and is now setting his sights even higher. With the tournament set to be held in India and Sri Lanka next year, Burns wants his team to aim for nothing less than lifting the trophy. In a landmark achievement, Italy secured their place in their first-ever major ICC event despite losing their final match to the Netherlands. Thanks to a superior net run rate, they joined the Dutch side as one of…
New Zealand’s star batter Kane Williamson has hailed Virat Kohli as the finest all-format cricketer the game has seen in the past 15 years. Kohli, who debuted in 2008, has amassed an incredible 82 international centuries — comprising 30 in Tests, 51 in ODIs, and one in T20Is. A relentless run-machine, he retired from Tests and T20Is with impressive averages of 46.85 and 48.7 respectively. In ODIs, he continues to thrive, averaging a remarkable 57.88 with over 14,000 runs to his name. “Virat is probably the greatest all-format player we’ve seen in the last 15 years,” Williamson told Sky Sports.…
Cricket Australia (CA) have named dynamic top-order batter Jake Fraser-McGurk and pacer Xavier Bartlett in their squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies, beginning on July 20 in Kingston, Jamaica. The pair come in as replacements for fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Spencer Johnson. Hazlewood will return home following his involvement in four back-to-back Test matches, as he gears up for next month’s white-ball series against South Africa. Johnson, meanwhile, continues to recover from a back injury sustained during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Australia will also be without key players Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and…
Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson has shed light on the immediate T20I future of star players Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi, both of whom were omitted from the upcoming series against Bangladesh. Addressing the media during Pakistan’s white-ball training camp in Karachi on Thursday, Hesson offered clarity on Babar’s current position in the team setup, confirming that the right-hander is vying for a place at the top of the order. “Babar is in contention for an opening spot at the moment. Right now, we have Fakhar (Zaman) and Saim (Ayub) occupying those roles, so he’s competing for one of…
