Ireland have shown their trust in fresh talent for the upcoming Bangladesh tour. They have named five uncapped players in their 15-member Test squad. The squad also includes experienced players like captain Andy Balbirnie who have helped Ireland win their last three Tests.

Cade Carmichael, Stephen Doheny, Jordan Neill, Liam McCarthy, and Gavin Hoey have been picked up for the first time in Test cricket. The selections signal a big moment for Ireland’s growing red-ball ambitions as the team prepares for only their second  multi-match Test series.

Ireland Men’s selector Andrew White said the squad is a mix of fresh faces and experienced players which makes this tour an exciting challenge. “It is fantastic to have Test cricket on the horizon again – and with that we are excited to see Cade Carmichael come into the Test squad following his ODI debut against the West Indies earlier this year,” he noted.

He also praised Carmichael for his technique, recalling his “excellent century against Afghanistan A in a four-day match in the UAE earlier this year.” White highlighted Doheny’s technical improvements in the domestic season.

For the T20I series, seamers Mark Adair and Josh Little, have returned to the Ireland squad after recovering from the injury. Tim Tector has also been added to provide depth in the middle-order, while Graham Hume and Neill are excluded.
