Bangladesh outclassed Pakistan to win the first T20I by seven wickets at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. It was a brilliant display by the Bangladeshi bowlers and fielders, as they bowled Pakistan out for the first time in T20Is — dismissing them for 110 in 19.3 overs. Opener Parvez Hossain remained unbeaten on 56, while Towhid Hridoy’s 36 were the highlights as Bangladesh comfortably chased down the target, finishing on 112/3 in 15.3 overs.

Salman Mirza’s opening spell gave Bangladesh an early scare in the run chase, but Parvez and Hridoy then stitched together a 73-run partnership to take the team to the doorstep of victory before Jaker Ali came in to provide the finishing touches.

Pakistan got off to a rocky start, with the batting line-up collapsing and five wickets lost within the first eight overs. Opener Fakhar Zaman (44 off 34), Khushdil Shah (17 off 23), and Abbas Afridi (22 off 24) were the only Pakistani batters to reach double figures. The Bangladeshi pacers dominated proceedings, with Taskin Ahmed leading the way with a three-wicket haul and Mustafizur Rahman producing a sensational spell of 2 for 6 in his four overs.

During the post-match interview, Player of the Match Parvez expressed his delight at the win, saying he looked to stay positive and take singles but ended up enjoying himself with five sixes — the most in the match.

“Obviously I’m happy because of our team’s win. So that’s why I’m happy. We just stayed positive and looked for singles. When I hit sixes, I enjoyed it,” Parvez said after the match.

Bangladesh have taken an early 1-0 lead in the series after a convincing win over Salman Ali Agha’s side in front of the home crowd.
