Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by eight runs in a thrilling, nail-biting encounter in the second T20I at Dhaka on 22 July 2025. Jaker Ali’s composed 55 helped Bangladesh recover from a top-order collapse and post 133, before the bowlers, led by Shoriful Islam, bowled Pakistan out for 125. With this victory, Bangladesh take an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bowl first at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. Both teams made a few changes to their line-ups. Bangladesh brought in Mohammad Naim and Shoriful Islam, while Pakistan handed a debut to pacer Ahmed Daniyal.

Bangladesh struggled at the start of their innings, losing early wickets. Naim and Litton Das failed to provide a solid start, and the top order collapsed to 28/4. However, Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan rebuilt the innings. Jaker played a mature knock of 55 runs off 48 balls, while Mahedi’s quickfire 33 off 25 balls helped push the total. Despite the early collapse, Bangladesh managed to post 133 runs in their 20 overs.

Like Bangladesh, Pakistan also had a poor start with the bat. Their top order was dismantled by Bangladesh’s bowlers, and at one stage, they were reeling at 47/7. Faheem Ashraf provided some resistance with an attacking 51 off 32 balls. He was supported by Abbas Afridi and Ahmed Daniyal, but the target proved just out of reach as Pakistan were bowled out in 19.2 overs.

Shoriful Islam was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, claiming 3 wickets for just 17 runs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mahedi Hasan also chipped in with two wickets each.
