The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has opted for continuity, naming an unchanged squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, set to begin on July 20 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The same set of players that recently clinched a landmark T20I series win in Sri Lanka will take the field against their Asian rivals.
After the win in Sri Lanka, BCB Chairman of Cricket Operations Najmul Abedeen Fahim highlighted the board’s intent to maintain stability in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup, stressing the importance of consistency in selection.
Top-order batter Mohammad Naim Sheikh and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin have held on to their places, reaffirming the faith the team management has placed in them as part of a broader, long-term strategy.
Shanto, Sarkar continues to be on the sidelines
Meanwhile, former skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto remains absent from the setup. Soumya Sarkar, previously sidelined due to injury during the Sri Lanka series, continues to miss out, with no official word yet on his recovery status.
“We are open to making changes if necessary, but until the World Cup, our priority is to avoid excessive chopping and changing. Stability is key,” Fahim remarked.
Explosive wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan has been left out once more, despite growing calls for his return following a strong showing with the bat in the middle order.
The three T20Is against Pakistan will take place on July 20, 22, and 24—all scheduled to be held in Mirpur.
