
Bangladesh secured an emphatic victory against Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the series played in Dambulla, winning by a margin of 83 runs.
Winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl first. Bangladesh had a poor start, being reduced to 7/2 in two overs. After losing both their openers, it was Towhid Hridoy and Litton Das who tried to rebuild the innings, stitching together a partnership of 69 runs off 55 balls. Litton then forged another crucial partnership with Shamim Hossain, adding 77 runs from just 39 balls. These two stands helped Bangladesh post a competitive total of 177/7 from their allotted 20 overs.
Litton, who had been out of form prior to this match and had not scored a half-century in his last 17 white-ball innings, played brilliantly and top-scored for Bangladesh with 76 runs off just 50 balls. His innings included one four and five sixes, with a strike rate of 152. The wicketkeeper-batter received good support from Hridoy and Shamim, who scored 31 and 48 runs respectively. Shamim batted at a strike rate of 177.78. For Sri Lanka, Binura Fernando claimed three wickets.
Chasing a target of 178, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The Bangladesh bowlers maintained constant pressure, and each contributed to the win. Rishad Hossain was the highest wicket-taker with three scalps. For Sri Lanka, only Pathum Nissanka and Dasun Shanaka managed to reach double figures. Litton was adjudged the Player of the Match.
