Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Das is set to return to action after recovering from a rib injury for the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies. Seam-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been left out of the squad, while the rest of the players remain unchanged from the side that recently faced Afghanistan.
During this year’s Asia Cup, Litton suffered the injury in a practice session ahead of the Super Four clash against India. The injury ruled him out of the must-win game against Pakistan, although he remained with the team. The wicketkeeper-batter also missed the T20I series against Afghanistan and the subsequent home ODI series against the West Indies as he continued his recovery.
Soumya Sarkar, who missed the previous T20I series due to visa issues, has not been included in the squad this time either, despite scoring 91 runs in the series decider against the West Indies in Dhaka.
With the T20 World Cup only a few months away, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has opted to retain the core group of players in order to find the ideal playing XI ahead of the mega event, which will be held in subcontinental conditions.
The three-match T20I series between Bangladesh and the West Indies will be played in Chattogram on October 27, 29 and 31.
