On April 27th, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the annual contract list for women cricketers for the 2022-23 season. The list includes 17 players who are divided into three categories: Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C. While the value of the contract was not mentioned in the press release sent by the BCCI, amounts from the previous year had Grade A players receiving INR 50 lakh, Grade B players getting INR 30 lakh, and Grade C players earning INR 10 lakh.
The previous list had 19 players, but both Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami have since retired.
Only Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain, Smriti Mandhana, her deputy, and Deepti Sharma, the team’s leading all-rounder, are in Grade A for the upcoming season. The five players in Grade B are Renuka Singh Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad. Grade C comprises nine players: Yastika Bhatia, Devika Vaidya, Sabbineni Meghana, Anjali Sarvani, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol, and Meghana Singh.

The contract list features seven players who were not contracted last year, including Renuka, who has been India’s leading pacer in recent times, Radha, the left-arm spinner, and Yastika, a left-hand batter. Meanwhile, some notable omissions from the list are Poonam Yadav, Shikha Pandey, Taniya Bhatia, Arundhati Reddy, Punam Raut, Mansi Joshi and Priya Punia.
