The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday (November 19) issued an update on Shubman Gill ahead of the second and final Test of the two-match series, which will be played in Guwahati.
Gill suffered a neck injury during the second day of the Kolkata Test, which kept him on the sidelines for the remainder of the game. Later in the day, he was admitted to hospital, where he was kept for a day before being discharged.
According to the latest update from the BCCI, Gill will travel to Guwahati on Wednesday, and a call on his participation will be taken closer to the series decider, which starts on November 22.
“He was kept under observation and discharged the next day. Shubman has been responding well to the medical treatment provided and will travel to Guwahati with the team on 19 November 2025. He will continue to be monitored by the BCCI medical team, and a decision on his participation in the second Test will be taken accordingly,” said a BCCI media release.
This update is in line with what was reported by RevSportz earlier in the day — that Gill will travel to Guwahati, but his participation remains in doubt. Nitish Kumar Reddy has joined up with the squad.
After winning the first Test by 30 runs, South Africa took a 1–0 lead in the series at Eden Gardens. India will be looking to bounce back from a close defeat to level the series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.
