The IPL 2025 resumes today after a week-long break with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, just hours before the match, there’s already some bad news coming in from Bengaluru — the weather conditions are far from promising, with rain and thunderstorms forecast for the evening.

A heavy thunderstorm is on its way, and the match could be delayed or suspended if the weather deteriorates early. Currently, Bengaluru is experiencing a temperature of 27°C, with light drizzle already beginning — earlier than the expected 6 PM downpour. It is predicted to last for about an hour, though conditions can change at any moment.

Both teams are prepared after a week of training. However, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium hasn’t been favourable for RCB this season, with three losses and only two wins so far. KKR will be keen to take advantage of the situation and grab a win, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

With drizzle already underway, pitch conditions are unlikely to be ideal. Bowlers, who have usually had the upper hand at this venue, will need to adapt — as will the batters.

According to the latest data, wind speeds are at 6 kph with humidity at 75%. Although the light rain is offering some relief from the hot and humid weather, both teams are on edge due to the unexpected shift in conditions.
