Bengaluru’s grand celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) historic IPL 2025 victory turned into a nightmare after a stampede occurred during the victory parade to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. According to reports, at least seven people are dead and over 25 injured following the incident, as quoted by The Times of India.
Thousands of fans had gathered outside Vidhana Soudha with flags and banners to celebrate the team’s historic win. The parade began after the squad met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The team then travelled in an open-top bus from Vidhana Soudha to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a grand celebration had been scheduled.
Chaos at Stadium During Grand Celebration
The crowd grew uncontrollably as fans rushed into the stadium for the post-parade celebration, which included fireworks, music, and speeches from players and staff. During this time, a stampede occurred, leading to several casualties.
Emergency services were called to the scene as panic spread among the crowd. Reports confirmed by The Times of India stated that seven people were killed and over 25 injured in the incident.
The tragic event took place just hours after the team’s arrival from Ahmedabad at 1:30 PM and was intended to be a moment of pride for RCB and its fanbase. Instead, what was meant to be a day of joy turned into a heartbreaking moment for the city. Questions are now being raised about the planning and security arrangements for such a large public gathering.
