Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has invited former India bowling coach Bharat Arun to lead a specialised 14-day training program aimed at elevating the standards of fast bowling across the island nation’s senior and junior ranks.

The program, set to begin on June 2, will see Arun work extensively with the Sri Lanka National Men’s and Women’s Teams, the Women’s ‘A’ Team, the U19 Men’s Team, as well as coaches from the High Performance Center, clubs, provinces, and coach educators.

Bharat Arun, who was India’s bowling coach from 2014 to 2021, played a pivotal role in shaping one of the world’s most formidable pace attacks. During his tenure, India achieved historic Test series wins overseas and saw fast bowling become a major strength.

In Sri Lanka, Arun’s responsibilities will include strategy sessions with both red and white ball teams, technical and skill-based training for fast bowlers, in-depth video and performance analysis, and simulation of match scenarios to enhance game awareness.

The program will kick off with training for the U19 national squad and gradually extend to all other designated groups.

With this initiative, SLC hopes to tap into Arun’s vast expertise to build a robust pipeline of fast bowlers capable of excelling on the international stage.
