Australia’s premier Spinner Nathan Lyon, was the pick of the touring side’s bowlers in the first and second innings of the ongoing Ashes Test, ending with 8 wickets for the match. The veteran, who is closing in on 500 Test wickets, said that his focus was on bowling his best ball to each and every batter, which in turn would force the opposition to defend more.
He also observed that he was excited to bowl to a set of English batters, who play with positive intent. “For me, it’s about bowling my best ball and trying to get them to defend as much as I can and understanding they don’t want to defend,” Nathan Lyon said after the end of Day 4.
“And that’s totally okay. It’s a different challenge but it’s exciting to be honest. They are playing a positive brand of cricket and I’m bloody proud to be a part of it to be honest,” added Lyon.
