Soon after the LSG campaign ended, Akashdeep Singh bid his fellow players goodbye. He was on a 6am flight from Lucknow to Mumbai and thereafter he is expected to fly to the UK.
As the IPL enters its concluding phase, one eye is already on India’s tour of the UK with players leaving the country in batches to get used to the conditions. In fact the India A team has already started training and will soon be involved in its first outing in England. Akashdeep who had a reasonable tour of Australia will want to do better in England in conditions that suit his type of bowling. Down under he beat the bat multiple times without much success and will also hope for better luck in the UK.
That he left Lucknow early morning within hardly six hours of the campaign getting done shows intent. That he wants to get to the Uk and be a part of the A team. India will need to pick 20 wickets in England to give themselves a chance and Akashdeep might well have a role to play. With Shardul, Anshul Kamboj and Akashdeep all in the UK, it will be interesting to see how the India A team go about their business.
