England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been rested from The Hundred 2025 after discussions with the England medical staff. Carse, who plays for the Northern Superchargers, will be replaced by Lancashire’s young fast bowler Mitchell Stanley.
“At the end of a long series against India and following consultation with the medical staff, I am sadly not able to play for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred this year,” Carse said. “I look forward to watching on from the sidelines and to representing the team again in the future,” he added.
The decision comes after Carse bowled 155 overs in four matches in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India. He was rested for the final Test at The Oval, which ended in a 2-2 series draw.
Carse, a key figure in England’s bowling attack, has been given a break to manage his workload ahead of a packed international schedule. England is set to play a white-ball series against South Africa in September, followed by tours of Ireland and New Zealand, and later, the Ashes series.
This rest period is aimed at preserving Carse’s fitness. Earlier this year, he suffered a foot injury during the white-ball tour of India, which forced him to miss the Champions Trophy and kept him out for nearly three months.
With Carse unavailable, Mitchell Stanley now has the opportunity to showcase his talent on a bigger stage as the Northern Superchargers aim for a strong campaign in The Hundred this season.
