
Sarfaraz Khan once again showed his worth in domestic cricket with a brilliant century for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament, on Monday.
The 27-year-old came out to bat when his team was struggling at 98/3 and he shifted the momentum of the game. Eventually, he retired hurt on 138, leaving his team in a position of strength at 367 for 5.
Sarfaraz reached his century in just 92 balls. He also shared a solid 100 run-stand with Aakash Parkar for the sixth wicket. He especially took a liking to M Siddharth’s spin bowling, scoring 49 runs off 42 deliveries against him.
The right-hander has been in the spotlight recently for his remarkable fitness transformation, with him shedding 17 kilos in just two months. The transformation came after Sarfaraz was overlooked for India’s squad for the England tour.
Recently, in first-class cricket, Sarfaraz also left his mark with an innings of 92 during India A’s tour of England ahead of the five-Test series versus England. Sarfaraz last played for India during the home series against New Zealand, where he scored a brilliant 150 runs, but struggled in the following matches. In 11 Test innings so far, he has 371 runs at an average of 37.10.
