CAB red-flags Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull

KKR practices at the Eden Gardens ahead of their clash against GT (PC: Subhayan Chakrabarty)

In an interesting development which has been confirmed to RevSportz by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) sources, the state association has written a strong letter to the BCCI, urging them not to allow Harsha Bhogle and/or Simon Doull to commentate on any of the matches at Eden Gardens.

This comes after the outburst from the two against Eden curator Sujan Mukherjee. The CAB is clear that Mukherjee has done nothing wrong and is only following the BCCI rule book which states that no franchise can have a say on the nature of the pitch. He has also followed the guidelines about how the wicket should be prepared. Doull had suggested on a digital platform that if Mukherjee continues to be obstinate, KKR should consider moving base from Kolkata.

While the BCCI has not formally responded to the letter, neither Bhogle nor Doull will be seen at Eden on Monday, in the game between KKR and GT. What will be interesting to see is whether the duo are given any of the remaining games at Eden, which includes the final on May 25.

This is a developing story and more is to follow.
