South African cricketers David Miller (batter), Keshav Maharaj (bowler) and Donovan Ferreira (batter) are back in the T20I squad for the upcoming England tour. South Africa will play a three-match ODI series followed by three T20Is from September 2 to 14.
All-rounder Marco Jansen and bowler Lizaad Williams are back in the T20I mix after recovering from injuries. Maharaj will feature in both the series alongside fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and seamer Kwena Maphaka.
Aiden Markram will lead the T20I squad while Temba Bavuma will handle the ODI team.
Speaking on Miller’s return, South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad said, “David’s return for the T20Is adds another dimension to our line-up, and he is eager to get going.”
On wicketkeeper-batter Ferreira, the coach highlighted the experience and the force he is during the final overs. “Donovan has done particularly well in the leagues he’s played in. We know how destructive he can be at the end of an innings, and with his experience in The Hundred and playing in English conditions, it’s the perfect time for him to rejoin the national squad,” he added.
Coach Conrad believes Maharaj is a great addition to the spin attack.”We were experimenting with the spinning all-rounders in our most recent T20I series, and Keshav was always part of our broader plans. His return to the squad strengthens our spin options.”
