Corbin Bosch etched his name into the history books by becoming only the second South African cricketer to register both a century and a five-wicket haul in the same Test match. Until now, this rare feat had been achieved only by Jacques Kallis, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders of all time — and that too, on two occasions.

Kallis first accomplished this in 1999 against West Indies in Cape Town, scoring 110 and taking 5/90. He repeated the feat in 2002 against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom, with a sublime 139 not out and a bowling return of 5/21.

Now, Bosch joins this elite club following his all-round heroics during South Africa’s 328-run win over Zimbabwe in the first Test at Bulawayo. Remarkably, this was only Bosch’s second Test appearance, making his achievement even more spectacular.

Coming in to bat at No. 8 in the first innings, Bosch played a pivotal role in lifting South Africa to a commanding total. He stitched a vital 108-run stand with Lhuan-dre Pretorius, the highest partnership of the innings, and followed it up with another crucial 50-plus partnership with debutant Codi Yusuf. Bosch remained unbeaten on 100 off 124 balls, an innings laced with 10 boundaries, giving South Africa a strong finish at 418/9 declared.

He continued his contribution in the second innings with a brisk 36 off 41 deliveries, including four boundaries, adding valuable runs in the lower order.

While Bosch went wicketless in Zimbabwe’s first innings, he delivered with the ball when it mattered most in the second innings. He dismantled Zimbabwe’s top order, claiming four wickets, including key dismissals of seasoned batters Craig Ervine and Sean Williams. His spell played a decisive role in wrapping up Zimbabwe’s innings and sealing a comprehensive win for South Africa.
