After Virat Kohli expressed his desire to retire from Test cricket to the BCCI, the X handle of the County Championship taunted him, implying that Kohli is afraid to come to England because he would have to face the English fast bowlers. In a ten-second video that the County Championship posted on X, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue were seen rattling the stumps in the ongoing four-day tournament in England. The post was captioned: “We don’t blame you, Virat.”
Kohli didn’t have a good time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, scoring only 190 runs in nine innings. Though he started the series well with a hundred at Perth, his form dipped thereafter.
Kohli made his debut for the Indian Test team in 2011. Since then, he has played 123 Tests and scored 9,230 runs in 210 innings at an average of 46.85, including 30 hundreds and 31 fifties.

Virat Kohli had a horrific series in England in 2014
He is one of India’s most successful Test captains, having led the team in 68 matches and won 40 of them.
With Rohit Sharma having retired, and if Kohli also decides not to tour England with Team India, it would pose a significant challenge for head coach Gautam Gambhir and the team management, especially considering the lack of experience in the current squad.
Notably, Kohli had a horrific series in England in 2014, scoring only 134 runs in five matches. However, he bounced back like a champion in the 2018 series, amassing 578 runs in five matches at a staggering average of 57.8.
