The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 begins on August 16, and teams have started gearing up for the season. With big names like David Miller, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, and Maheesh Theekshana already part of the Barbados Royals squad, another major addition has been confirmed—South African batter Quinton de Kock. He will be joined by Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai, who will be playing for the Royals for the first time.

De Kock is no stranger to the Royals, and this will be his third season with the franchise. He made his debut in 2022, playing seven matches and scoring 221 runs at a strike rate of 128.48. He returned in 2024, enjoying a prolific season with 453 runs in 12 matches at an impressive strike rate of 161.78.

De Kock Scored 63 Runs for MI New York against San Francisco Unicorns

De Kock is coming off a decent Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the wicket-keeper batter scored 152 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 129.91, with a highest score of 97*.

His current form in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament looks promising. Following the conclusion of the IPL, several players shifted focus to the MLC, which began on June 13. In the first two matches for MI New York, De Kock has scored a total of 71 runs. Notably, in the match against the San Francisco Unicorns on Monday, he smashed 63 runs off 38 balls.
