It’s the end of the legacy of Rohit Sharma. He will no longer be a part of Test Cricket from now on. The announcement was released today and is currently going viral all over social media.

With 4301 runs in 67 test matches played, Rohit’s performance has made a valuable contribution to the team with 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries included. Sharma,, who recently celebrated his 38th birthday, has given fans, as well as his loved ones a shocking surprise. The cricketer is currently busy with his involvement with the Mumbai Indians (MI) for the IPL 2025 ongoing season,, giving his best efforts as a batter.

Several people, including his teammates, teams, and even the BCCI, came up with some heartfelt comments on X. A post by youngster Yashasvi Jaiswa,l who made his test cricket debut in 2023, read: “Rohit bhai, sharing the crease with you in whites was nothing less than a blessing. Thank you for everything.”

In a post shared by the BCCI, the board thanked the Team India captain, writing: “Thank you, Captain. End of an era in whites! @ImRo45 bids adieu to Test cricket. He will continue to lead India in ODIs. We are proud of you, Hitman.”

In respect to his cap number, Sharma’s IPL franchise team, Mumbai Indians, also shares a heartfelt post that reads: “Cap 280 Jersey 45 Bowing out from Test cricket. It was a privilege watching you in India whites, Ro!”

Not just MI but Chennai Super Kings also shared a post on his retirement that read: “A leader who shaped a generation! Thank you for your stride in whites, Rohit! #RohitSharma #19:29.”

Also joining the list is none other than Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir. His post read: “A master, a leader & a gem!”
