
Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 49th match of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai by four wickets, with two balls to spare.

PBKS’ succesful chase
PBKS openers set the platform for the other batters by stitching together a partnership of 44 runs in just 28 balls. However, the third-wicket partnership of 72 runs off 50 balls between captain Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh took PBKS close to the target. Iyer scored 72 off 41 balls at a strike rate of 175.61, including five fours and four sixes. Prabhsimran was the second-highest scorer with 54 runs from 36 balls at a strike rate of 150, including five fours and three sixes.
Sam Curran, “the lone warrior”, for CSK
Sam came in to bat at number three and played a dashing innings. His partnerships with Dewald Brevis (78 off 50 balls) and Shivam Dube (46 off 22 balls) took CSK to 190 all out in 19.2 overs. Sam scored 88 runs off 47 balls at a strike rate of 187.23, including nine fours and four sixes. Brevis scored 32 runs, but none of the other batters managed to reach 20.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s Hat-trick
Yuzvendra Chahal took the second hat-trick of his IPL career. In the 19th over, Chahal got Dhoni out, caught by Nehal Wadhera. On the fourth ball, he dismissed Deepak Hooda, caught by Priyansh Arya. The next ball, he bowled Anshul Kamboj, and on the final ball of the over, he dismissed Noor Ahmed, caught by Marco Jansen. Chahal finished with a bowling figure of 4/32.
