At 43 years of age, playing competitive cricket in a high-intensity tournament like the IPL is a challenge in itself. MS Dhoni has already shown that it is possible, maintaining remarkable fitness and proving his worth once again this season. However, doing so as a wicketkeeper-batter is an even bigger challenge, and Dhoni has excelled in both matches so far, with two stunning stumpings being the highlight of his performances.

In today’s match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and opted to bowl, RCB got off to a strong start, with Phil Salt leading the charge. However, in the fifth over, Noor Ahmad bowled a delivery that Salt missed. In a flash, Dhoni dislodged the bails with incredible speed, sending Salt back for 32 off 16 balls.

The sheer reflexes of the CSK legend left everyone stunned, as it seemed he had taken no more than 0.10 seconds to complete the dismissal. Even RCB fans were left in disbelief at his agility. This was not the first time Dhoni showcased his sharp wicketkeeping this season. In CSK’s first match, he executed a similar lightning-fast stumping to dismiss Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav.

On that occasion, the Mumbai batter stepped out to drive but missed the ball completely, giving Dhoni just enough time to whip the bails off in a fraction of a second (as per the broadcaster, 0.12 seconds). His glovework, especially against spin at Chepauk, has been nothing short of outstanding. Still, RCB managed to post a solid total of 196/7. To secure victory, CSK’s batters will have to dig deep and put in a strong performance in the chase.
