Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are facing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai today, April 25, in the 43rd match of IPL 2025. SRH won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, the heartbreaking news for CSK fans is that their beloved star and team icon, MS Dhoni, failed once again with the bat.
Dhoni walked in on the sixth ball of the 14th over with CSK struggling at 118/6. He struck a boundary off the third ball he faced, bowled by Zeeshan Ansari, raising hopes of a trademark Dhoni finish. Unfortunately, he failed to build on it and was dismissed after scoring just 6 runs from 10 balls. Attempting to place a wide delivery between the fielders, he was caught at backwards point by Abhishek Sharma.

Dhoni finished with a strike rate of 60, with his only scoring shot being that single four. The stage was set for arguably the greatest finisher in the game to close the innings in style, but he couldn’t deliver on this occasion. Dhoni has had a quiet IPL so far, scoring only 140 runs in nine matches at an average of 28 and a strike rate of 142.86, with a highest score of 30*.
CSK had a poor start, losing opener Shaik Rasheed on the first ball of the innings. Sam Curran and Ayush Mhatre then stitched together a steady 39-run stand off 27 balls, followed by a brisk 40-run partnership between Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis in just 20 balls. These two stands helped CSK reach a total of 154 before being bowled out in 19.5 overs. Dewald Brevis top-scored with 42 runs off 25 balls.
