CSK will change dramatically on the field after Dhoni’s retirement – Moody

According to former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Tom Moody, the retirement of MS Dhoni will lead to significant changes in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team. Moody believes that while Dhoni may still be involved with CSK in a different capacity, the dynamics of on-field leadership will inevitably shift. Moody emphasizes the crucial role of captaincy in the IPL, stating its significance in guiding teams towards playoff success.

“It will change dramatically on the field, for sure. He will still have a presence because I’m sure he will still be there in some mentor role or coaching role. The impact of leadership is significant in the IPL and we have seen historically that the very well-led teams are more often than not in the top four,” Tom Moody said in a conversation with ESPNcricinfo.

As the 2023 IPL season nears its conclusion, the playoffs are set to commence on May 23, showcasing the top four teams. CSK, having qualified for the playoffs for the 12th time, are slated to face the Gujarat Titans, the table-toppers, in the first qualifier on May 23 in Chennai.
