After smashing his 26th Test hundred in the first match of his farewell Test series against Pakistan, in Perth, Australian opener David Warner said that the best way to silence his detractors was by scoring runs.

Before the start of the Perth Test, Warner had compiled just one ton over 20 Test matches. He also had come in for sharp criticism from his former teammate, Mitchell Johnson.

“(On his century) It does feel great, it’s about putting runs on the board for the bowlers. No better way to silence the critics than by putting runs on the board,” Warner stated to Fox Sports.

“It’s my job is to come here and score runs. It was good to get a couple of partnerships, first with Uzzie (Usman Khawaja) and then with Smudge (Steve Smith),” he added.

Warner was at his aggressive best as he scored runs all over the park. This was his sixth Test ton against the Pakistan team. He also shared an opening stand of 126 with Usman Khawaja and reached the three-figure mark in the 43rd over.
