Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) managed to win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in Delhi in a do-or-die match for them, as this 14-run win will keep them alive in this ongoing IPL 2025. But their vice-captain, Venkatesh Iyer’s poor form continued with the bat. His inconsistent batting this season hasn’t been much of a help for KKR. With 142 runs scored so far in a total of ten matches, Iyer’s form is coming as questionable as his previous season performances.

The former Champion scored 370 runs in 15 matches last season, but his promising season so far was in 2023, scoring a total of 404 runs in 14 matches. Besides players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine, who gave a promising start in today’s match, Angkrish Raghuvanshi also played well today with his 44 runs off 32 balls.

KKR paid 23.75 crore for Venkatesh Iyer in the IPL 2025 auction

He was even subbed out ahead of the second innings as Vaibhav Arora came in. That decision also surprised many KKR fans. However, it was Narine’s magical spell that turned the game in favour of the defending champions.

During the post-match presentation, while talking about the win, Rahane said: “Sunil bowled well, good support from Russell, and Roy bowled well. He has been doing well for us, thought let’s back him. What’s important for is to take confidence from this moment. [Narine] He’s been a champions bowler for this franchise. A match-winner. As a captain, good to have him and Varun. Narine has been coming early for the practice sessions, working hard, batting as well.“
