Delhi Capitals registered a comprehensive win over Sunrisers Hyderabad to move second on the points table. At the heart of the victory was Mitchell Starc, who claimed his first five-wicket haul in T20 cricket and won the Player of the Match award.
In an afternoon game with just a hint of movement, Starc proved lethal with the new ball, picking up three wickets in the Powerplay before adding two more at the back end to finish with figures of 5/35. While batters expect Starc to move the ball both ways, in this game, he deceived them with his cutters as well. Ishan Kishan and Travis Head fell while attempting to cut him over deep backward point, while Nitish Kumar Reddy was undone by a slower delivery in the Powerplay.
Tried bowling variations: Starc
“Guys know what I am going to do, so you need to think outside the box. As an older player, you need to find different ways to get batters out. Tried to bowl different balls today, was pretty effective, I think. It’s a new set of players; they have been fantastic. You get to play with new guys, it’s a great group of players. It’s a pretty young group, to be fair, looking forward to playing more with them,” said Mitchell Starc in the post-match presentation.
Starc is the current holder of the Purple Cap, with eight wickets to his name in two games. The left-arm seamer has been taking wickets both with the new ball and in the slog overs.
