Dewald Brevis Smashes Auction Record in SA20 2025

Pretoria Capitals on Tuesday shattered the SA20 auction record by signing young sensation Dewald Brevis for a record R16.5 million (approx. US$ 945000). 

The base price of Brevis was R500000 ($28500 approx.). The bidding war between Jo’burg Super Kings and Paarl Royals went on till Royals withdrew when the price went up to R10 million. Capitals joined late and spent half of their available purse (R32.5 million) to rope in the young superstar.

South Africa T20I captain Aiden Markram became the first player to cross the R10 million mark when Durban’s Super Giants took him for R14 million. DSG and PC were interested in Markram but DSG came up with the highest bid at R12.4 million. However, Sunrisers Eastern Cape exercised their right to match card but DSG finally won the bidding war for Markram. DSG’s former captain, Keshav Maharaj was picked up by SEC for R1.7 million. 

MI Cape Town, who won the last championship got Reeza Hendricks for a cheap price of R500,000. They also have Rassie van der Dussen for whom they spent R5.2 million ($ 298000 approx.). Wiaan Mulder who recently got a triple century in Test cricket was picked up by JSK for R9 million ($513000 approx.). Prenalan Subrayen, whose action was cleared by independent testing centre was also acquired by JSK. Veteran spinner Imran Tahir will also be seen in action for the Super Kings.
