Sourav Ganguly, the former BCCI president, commended MS Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for their remarkable turnaround in the 2023 IPL season. Ganguly acknowledged CSK’s ability to excel in crucial matches and stated that they have a knack for winning big games. Dhoni, as the captain, has led CSK to four IPL titles in the past. Despite a disappointing performance in the previous season, CSK displayed resilience and bounced back strongly this year, securing the second position in the league stage with 17 points from 14 games.
Earlier this week, CSK defeated the defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT), by a margin of 15 runs in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 1. This triumph ensured their qualification for the historic 10th final, extending their record. Ganguly’s praise for Dhoni underscores CSK’s ability to overcome adversity and perform exceptionally well in high-stakes encounters.
“Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni have been fantastic. They have shown how to win big matches. Dhoni has been remarkable in his captaincy. He has shown how to win big matches,” Sourav Ganguly said while speaking to India Today.
CSK is set to play in the IPL 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 28). Their opponents in the final will be determined by the outcome of the Qualifier 2 match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.
