Aakash Chopra, the former India opener, reckoned that MS Dhoni’s magical captaincy was at the heart of the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) surge into yet another Indian Premier League (IPL) final, their 10th in 14 seasons of participation.
“14 years, 10 finals, four trophies,” said Chopra while reviewing the Chennai Super Kings-Gujarat Titans Qualifier on his YouTube channel. “It seems the ‘P’ in IPL means peela (yellow). Chennai once again did an amazing job and have reached another final. They are an incredible team. It is MS Dhoni’s magic.

“This team is different. Mahi’s magic is different. It seems the entire tournament has been organised for MS Dhoni this time. They finished ninth last year, finished second this year (in the league phase), and have now become the first team to reach the final. Take a bow Dhoni, you are amazing.”
For Dhoni the individual, Sunday’s game will be his 11th final, having played in one for the now-defunct Rising Super Supergiant in 2017 as well.
