Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik will captain India at the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes. The fast-paced cricket event will be held in Hong Kong from 7 to 9 November. Karthik, who recently joined the Sharjah Warriorz in the ILT20, is making a return to the competition.
“It is an absolute honour to lead Team India at the Hong Kong Sixes, a tournament with such a rich history and global recognition,” Karthik said, confirming his participation. “I look forward to leading a group of players who have such incredible records to their credit, and together we will aim to bring joy to the fans and play cricket that is both fearless and entertaining,” he added.
Cricket Hong Kong China Chairperson Burji Shroff welcomed Karthik’s leadership, saying: “We are thrilled to welcome Dinesh as the captain of Team India for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025. His leadership and wealth of experience will add immense value to the competition, and we are confident that his presence will attract fans from across the globe to witness this spectacular cricketing festival.”
The Hong Kong Sixes is a six-a-side tournament known for quick matches and high scores. Twelve teams, including India, Pakistan, Australia and England, will compete in four groups. The tournament features six overs per side, with each bowler allowed to bowl one over—except the wicketkeeper—and one of the bowlers permitted to bowl a second over. The final match will consist of six overs of eight balls each.
Having agreed to play in the tournament, Ravichandran Ashwin will reunite with Dinesh Karthik. Both will be aiming to help their team win the title for the first time since 2005.
