Another day, another match and another thriller. The second game of the Women’s Premier League went right down to the wire with the equation 5 off 1 like the first match. Only this time, the bowling team defended the total and RCB won by 2 runs. Alyssa Healy of UP Warriorz won the toss and decided to field. RCB posted 157/6 in their 20 overs and UPW managed 155/7 in the end.

Meghana Sets the Stage

S Meghana, who was with GG last year, was released by them and acquired by RCB in this year’s auction. Meghana validated the franchise’s faith by scoring 53 off 44 balls with 7 fours and a six. With Sophie Devine dismissed in the first over, Meghana entered the crease early and played splendidly. Her partnership with Richa Ghosh contributed significantly as RCB surpassed the 150-run mark.

Richa Displays her Prowess

Richa, renowned for her power hitting, faced a tight situation when she came to bat in the 8th over with RCB at 54/3. Instead of her usual aggressive approach, she focused on building a partnership with Meghana. Her calculated innings of 62 runs off 37 balls steered RCB to a competitive total.

Grace Harris Fails to Save UP

Grace Harris, UP’s dependable rescuer, couldn’t replicate her previous performances. Despite hitting 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, she fell prey to Sobhana Asha’s clever bowling tactics, leaving UP short of victory.

Asha Provides Hope for RCB

In a pivotal 17th over, Asha turned the game in RCB’s favour. Defending a challenging situation, the leg-spinner dismissed key batters Shweta and Grace Harris, swinging the momentum towards RCB with UP needing 30 off 18 balls. Asha was the Player of the Match with figures of 4-0-22-5.

Deepti Fails to Deliver Again

Despite claiming to be a batting all-rounder, Deepti Sharma’s performances with the bat have been underwhelming. This match was no exception as she struggled to guide UPW to victory. Needing 5 off the last ball, Deepti couldn’t muster the big shot, leaving the team 2 runs short. Another missed opportunity for Deepti to silence her critics and earn the trust of Indian cricket fans.
