Team India’s Test captain Shubman Gill will lead North Zone in the upcoming Duleep Trophy, which marks the beginning of the domestic season in India. After India’s impressive performance in England under his leadership, captain Gill will now be in action for the North Zone.

When Gill was named India’s new Test captain following Rohit Sharma’s retirement, the decision was initially met with scepticism. However, Gill silenced his critics not only with his leadership but also through his exceptional performances with the bat.

He emerged as the highest run-scorer of the series, amassing 754 runs at an average of 75.40, including four centuries. He also recorded the highest Test score of his career during the tour. Under his captaincy, India fought hard and managed to draw the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2.

Ankit Kumar has been named Gill’s deputy for the Duleep Trophy. Arshdeep Singh, who did not feature in any matches during the England tour, has also been included in the squad. Among other notable names are Anshul Kamboj, who recently made his India debut, along with Harshit Rana and Ayush Badoni.
