The Netherlands have included experienced players Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann in their 15-member squad for the World Cup. The squad also features uncapped 34-year-old all-rounder Sybrand Engelbrecht, who is an off-spinner and right-handed batter. He was part of the 12-member side which had a practice camp in Bengaluru.

While Van der Merwe and Ackermann were not part of the squad that secured the Dutch a place in the World Cup through a runner-up finish in the qualifiers, they have been selected for the six-week tournament in India in October and November.

Both Van der Merwe and Ackermann bring valuable experience to the side, which will once again be led by Scott Edwards. They performed creditably at the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.

Notably, left-arm pacer Fred Klassen and pacer Timm van der Gugten, who were part of the T20 World Cup squad in Australia and played a significant role in securing automatic qualification for the World Cup, have not been included. Tim Pringle, a left-arm spinner who missed the World Cup qualifiers due to injury, is also not part of the squad.

The Netherlands will commence their World Cup campaign against Pakistan in Hyderabad on October 6.

Netherlands squad: Scott Edwards (c), Max O’Dowd, Bas de Leede, Vikram Singh, Teja Nidamanuru, Paul van Meekeren, Colin Ackermann, Roelof van der Merwe, Logan van Beek, Aryan Dutt, Ryan Klein, Wesley Barresi, Saqib Zulfiqar, Shariz Ahmad, Sybrand Engelbrecht.
