
India’s rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a strong comeback in the second innings to put India U-19 in a commanding position at the end of Day Three in the ongoing first Youth Test against England U-19.
After being dismissed cheaply in the first innings, Suryavanshi delivered in the second innings . Following England’s first-innings total of 439, India began their second innings with a healthy lead of 101 runs.
Opening the innings once again, Suryavanshi and first-innings centurion and captain Ayush Mhatre gave India a solid start. The duo stitched a 77-run partnership for the first wicket before Mhatre was dismissed for 32 off 43 balls, hitting five boundaries.
Suryavanshi then continued the charge alongside Vihaan Malhotra, adding another 32 runs for the second wicket in just 43 balls. Displaying intent and fluency, Suryavanshi struck nine fours and a six en route to a well-crafted 56 off 44 balls at a strike rate of 127.27. He appeared confident throughout, never letting the bowlers settle, and kept the scoreboard ticking.
By stumps on Day Three, India U-19 were 128/3, leading by 229 runs. Malhotra remained unbeaten on 34 off 52 balls (6 fours), while wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu was yet to get off the mark, facing 13 balls.
For England U-19, Archie Vaughan was the standout bowler in the second innings, taking all three wickets to fall.
Earlier in the day, India wrapped up England’s innings for 439. Henil Patel was the most successful bowler for the visitors, finishing with 3 for 81 in 25 overs.
